WWE: The Best and Worst of December 12th's Monday Night Raw

Espn.com/WWE
It is pretty safe to say that Raw has been very hit or miss since the Brand Split in July. Unfortunately for Raw though, they've had more stinkers than hits recently. However, last nights show was a solid show. That is certainly what they needed from their go-home show going into Roadblock: End of the Line. Here, I plan on mentioning my favorite, and least favorite moments from last nights broadcast.

     Favorite Moment

The Sami Zayn and Mick Foley Segment
This was far and away my favorite moment of the night. That's because this played into the real life fan chatter of how Sami Zayn was in desperate need of a change of scenery. When Raw General Manager Mick Foley told Zayn earlier in the night that he would talk to SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan about trading Zayn, that left me and many fans excited. Following Sami Zayn's match with Jinder Mahal, Foley came out to announce Zayn had been traded to SmackDown. Foley then informed Sami he was traded straight up for Eva Marie, a "talent of equal value" straight up. This led Zayn to go on a rampage and get in Foley's face stating his value and demanding a match with Braun Stroman. It turns out that this was a ruse by Foley to try to get the nastiness and fire out of a class act like Zayn.

Why I liked the Moment:
In this segment, Zayn showed the most fire he's had since his Main Roster call up. He came off as a man desperate to face off against a monster of a man in Braun Strowman. This was the pinnacle of what has quietly been a great storyline of how Sami wants to prove himself by doing what no one else on the roster can do in taking down the "abominable Strowman". Following Zayn's tirade, Foley put over Zayn tremendously by stating that he would not want to trade a man of his caliber away. This segment also gave Zayn some much needed momentum and buzz, something that was severely lacking since the end of his feud with Kevin Owens. When Zayn got in Foley's face and flat out begged for a match with Strowman, he showed a passion that legends like Mick Foley himself showcased. Sami proved that in a business where emotion can get you far, he has what it takes to be a featured star.

Least Favorite Moment

The Premature Split of Team Kevin and Chris
Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho have had tension the last few weeks due to Jericho feeling disrespected by Owens. Jericho even stated on a previous show he was essentially tired of always being the "fall guy" while Owens does nothing to aid him. For a few weeks now, Owens had tried to reconcile with his "best friend". It seemed like their friendship was starting to rebuild once he was able to convince Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, to insert team Jeri-KO into a Tag title match with the New Day in the Main Event. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are also inserted into this match basically just to get Reigns and Rollins action in the ring, and make fans happy. The New Day win via. more cheating and shenanigans, and Jericho blows up on Kevin Owens, leaving him to eat a spear as the show closes.

Why I disliked the moment:
I think it is far too early to split this tandem up. Perhaps something will come up on Sunday where Jericho will interfere in Owens' match to help him retain, but as of now it looks like the "best friends" aren't even friends anymore. I think Jericho and Owens have so much chemistry and are wildly entertaining together, and there was still life in their act together. I think it was the right move for the writing staff to want to tease the split, but for it to be so obvious like this is hard to watch. I think that the potential split was at least a month too early, as the writing staff could have had them split around the Royal Rumble and have them embark on a feud for a Universal title match at Wrestlemania. As Kevin Owens showed against the previously mentioned Sami Zayn, storylines of best friends turned enemies are always among the most entertaining.
