The Idea Of Restricted Free Agency In Baseballl

The idea of restricted free agency in the majors was written about by Fangraphs writer, Travis Sawchik. He talks in great detail about how this would replace the arbitration system, and how it would lead to less awkwardness and debate about whether a player's paycheck is matching his production.

Looking At The Financial Benefits of a 1V1 Tournament

The NBA All Star Break has come and gone, and it was nice to see it have a touch of Unicorn during the Skills Contest. The Three Point Contest saw Eric Gordon put on a nice display. The Dunk Contest proved its inconsistency by being a solid, yet unexciting affair. The most notable part of that weekend was Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant singing kumbaya in the way of a lob. However, there is one event that I believe can generate some much needed buzz for the All Star Weekends for years to come. This idea would be a One on One tournament. The overall benefits from this tournament would be tremendous for the league.

Exit Velocity May Be Overrated

I'll be the first to admit it, Statcast is a helluva good time. People have wondered throughout time how hard Babe Ruth and Mike Piazza were able to hit a baseball. With Statcast, that is no longer a mystery, as we know exactly how hard guys are hitting the ball. It has certainly enhanced the experience of being a fan (and also has made being an executive for a team easier). Now people seem to love exit velocity, but what if I told you it may be a tad bit overrated?

Is Keeping Jay Bruce Really That Bad?

Newsday.com
After an entire offseason of Jay Bruce essentially singing should I stay or should I go, his future is far more certain now. That is because he was informed that he will indeed stay with the Mets going into this season. It must be a relief for him now knowing he doesn't have to worry as to where he will play next season, but this move is has provided more of mixed feelings from the Mets fanbase, rather than relief. Maybe though, keeping Bruce around to start the season isn't all that bad, right?

Possible Destinations For Chase Headley

Chase Headley

I mentioned in a previous article how the Yankees needed to go out and get Yangervis Solarte. This move would not only help the Yankees be competitive, but Solarte is also young (and cheap) enough to remain good as the young core of the team grows. On top of all of that, Solarte would help solidify the Third Base position for a long time. However, lets say the Yankees successfully trade for Solarte. The question then becomes, what does the team do with Chase Headley?
